On December 22, 2014, KEPCO E&C signed a feasibility study service contract for the Naga Power Plant with SPC Power Corporation of the Philippines.
Under the contract, KEPCO E&C is required to carry out a range of tasks, including the conceptual design for the construction of a new coal-fired power plant, a survey of the prospects for power supply/demand, an environmental impact assessment, a grid impact study, and preparation of EPC tendor document, over a period of about eight months.
In September 2014, SPC Power Corporation, a joint venture of KEPCO and a local business in the Philippines, took over the Naga Power Plant Complex (NPPC) in Cebu from the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) of the Philippines.
SPC Power Corporation plans to demolish the aged coal-fired power plant and construct a new one (200~300MW class) based on the results of the feasibility study.
