At KEPCO E&C, we have our proprietary SMR brand titled BANDI, whose name stemmed from a tiny firefly shining with a yellow-green light in the darkness in a tranquil forest at a summer midnight. BANDI is a small reactor with 200MW thermal output, and 60MW electricity output that can stably provide the energy needed for electricity, heating free of greenhouse gas emissions to remote areas such as polar regions, small cities, isolated islands, and deserts. This reactor is being developed by making the most of the proven technology in commercial nuclear power plants, targeting the differentiated niche market such as distributed energy sources, district heating, seawater desalination, nuclear-renewable hybrid energy system development, instead of competing with large-scale nuclear power plants or thermal power plants suited for the large grid.
