Biomass and WtE
At KEPCO E&C, we have carried out WtE(Waste-to-Energy) projects based on our experience in coal-fired power plant design and EPC in compliance with the government's resource circulation and environmental energy policy.

Building a sustainable, resource-circulating society necessitates WtE technology, which is crucial for maximizing energy recovery from non-recyclable waste and processing it in an eco-friendly manner. The surge of plastic and medical waste following COVID-19 has only heightened the importance of eco-friendly and high-efficiency WtE technology.
In March 2022, the Ministry of Environment revised the Enforcement Rule of the Waste Management Act, reclassifying pyrolysis facilities as recycling facilities rather than incineration facilities. One of the 110 national policy tasks of the incumbent government is to transition from conventional waste treatment methods, centered around landfills and incineration, towards a pyrolysis approach, with the objective of establishing a circular economy through recycling.
In line with the government's waste management policies, KEPCO E&C is enthusiastically developing pyrolysis gasification technology as a substitute for conventional stoke incinerators to support the construction of eco-friendly incineration facilities. Furthermore, we aim to shift public perception of waste treatment facilities in a more positive direction through the promotion and dissemination of eco-friendly waste treatment methods.
