Clean hydrogen and ammonia

To achieve the 2030 NDC(Nationally Determined Contributions) and 2050 carbon neutrality, KEPCO E&C is engaging in technology development and projects across the hydrogen value chain, including the EPC(engineering, procurement, and construction) of hydrogen production system utilizing renewable energy sources; hydrogen/ammonia co-firing infrastructure establishment; and power generation projects that use the produced hydrogen as fuel.

At KEPCO E&C, we have performed a number of services and projects to ensure the stability of the power system and utilize surplus power in response to the growing share of renewable energy generation. We have also designed a low-temperature water electrolysis and energy management system for building the Samcheok Hydrogen Pilot City infrastructure; hydrogen production, storage, and utilization system for research at KHNP Central Research Institute; digital twin and hydrogen demonstration linked to Saemangeum renewable energy; and overseas hydrogen-based public transportation infrastructure. Our area of expertise extends even to high-temperature water electrolysis technology for developing nuclear energy-based hydrogen production; and research on large-capacity clean hydrogen plant design to gain global export competitiveness. Efforts are also being made to commercialize the production of blue hydrogen by leveraging CCS design technology.
