Clean hydrogen and ammonia

To achieve the 2030 National Greenhouse Gas Reduction Target (NDC: Nationally Determined Contributions) and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, KEPCO E&C is carrying out technology development and projects related to various hydrogen value chains, including the EPC of hydrogen production system using renewable energy sources, and hydrogen/ammonia co-firing infrastructure construction and power generation that utilizes the produced hydrogen as fuel.

We have performed a number of services and projects to secure the stability of the power system and utilize surplus power as the proportion of power generation with renewable energy increases. We designed a low-temperature water electrolysis and energy management system for building the Samcheok hydrogen pilot city infrastructure, building a hydrogen production, storage, and utilization system for research at the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Institute, digital twin and hydrogen demonstration linked to Saemangeum renewable energy, and building overseas hydrogen-based public transportation infrastructure. Moreover, we have secured high-temperature water electrolysis technology for developing hydrogen production using nuclear power based on high-temperature water electrolysis and research on large-capacity clean hydrogen plant design in order to secure international export competitiveness. We continue our commercialization efforts to produce blue hydrogen by combining CCS design technology.
