KEPCO E&C held Ethics Day (anti-corruption emphasis period), a non-face-to-face event that involved all employees including the CEO, from June 2 to June 18.

The event kicked off at the company’s headquarters in Gimcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do on June 2 (Ethics Day) with a CEO message proclamation by CEO Kim Sung-am (containing the new CEO’s message on anti-corruption) and an anti-corruption pledge signing session by the top executives of the company.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this event was planned as a demonstration of the company’s commitment to promoting “anti-corruption” as a social responsibility that is important to KEPCO E&C as a public company. During the 3-week anti-corruption period, the company ran many diverse campaigns and employee participation programs designed to instill awareness of the importance of anti-corruption mindset among employees. These campaigns and programs were offered online in non-face-to-face format, observing the government guidelines for overcoming the pandemic.

KEPCO E&C held an exhibition on its anti-corruption and human rights awareness campaign to publicize its vision and goals in human rights management. The exhibition, which was held at the 1st-floor lobby of its headquarters, also showcased winning posters from the National Human Rights Commission of Korea’s human rights competition.

Through various educational programs like online human rights education aimed at all employees and “Tongdal (total understanding of anti-corruption/ethics/human rights every month),” the educational material published every month, KEPCO E&C is expected to come one step closer to its goal of instilling awareness of human rights among all its employees.

In addition, the company plans to maintain the commitment of its top executives to lead by example in creating an ethical workplace through self-assessments on anti-corruption and human rights (the purpose of which is to make anti-corruptive behavior a way of life), online anti-corruption quizzes, and employee pledges to abide by anti-corruptive behaviors, respect human rights, and abstain from abusing their powers.

 “KEPCO E&C, as a public institution, will strengthen its ethics compliance management system to create a workplace free of corruption and take the lead in respecting and protecting human rights. Through this event, I hope that the culture of anti-corruption will become firmly rooted in everyday life,” CEO Kim Sung-arm said.
