Task 1: Structural Assessment

This task will identify areas where external walls must be strengthened and determine wall thickness and configurations of the walls needed to successfully meet the NEI 07-13 guidelines by resisting the impact loading at each aircraft strike location including the following work activities;

-  Preliminary Evaluation for Structural Resistance Capability to fix GA

-  RCB Integrity Evaluations to Size the External Walls

-  AB Integrity Evaluation to Size the External Walls

-  SFP Integrity Evaluation to Size the External Walls

-  Preparation of Technical Report for Structural Evaluation

-  Technical Meetings with KEPCO E&C and Regulatory Body

Task 2: Heat Removal Assessment

This task will identify mitigation or protective measures that may be necessary to maintain core cooling capability due to physical, shock and pressurized fire impacting AB through external openings especially from a fireball that develops exterior to the building. Every effort will be made to identify mitigation or protective measures that minimize construction and operational difficulties in the plant design while still meeting the intent of NEI 07-13 including the following work activities;

-  Data Collection and Evaluation

-  Set up of GA’s, fire areas, and blank damage footprints

-  Physical, shock, and fire damage assessment

-  Evaluate potential design enhancements

-  Preparation of Technical Report for Structural Evaluation

-  Technical Meetings with KEPCO E&C and Regulatory Body

Task 3: Licensing Supports

This task will be performed under consultant’s whole responsibility for their performance of AIA to obtain Construction Permit (CP) from KINS, the Korean regulatory body with technical supports as follows;

-  Preparation of PSAR Section

-  Response to RAIs from KINS

-  Support for AIA Inspection

-  Licensing Issues Resolution Related to AIA

-  Technical Presentation and Meeting with KINS

As for the NRC Safeguard Information (SGI) consultant may use its own methodology when SGI is not available to SKN 5&6. However in this case consultant shall ensure its conservatism such that any alternative methods, modeling or inputs developed and/or used for identifying the structural strengthening or design enhancements for SKN 5&6 could pass AIA regulations in the U.S. if the NRC specified ones were used to re-perform the assessments.
