KEPCO E&C’s New Business Research Department held the Hydrogen Energy Seminar

On May 11, KEPCO E&C’s New Business Research Department held a seminar on hydrogen energy with the Korea Energy Economics Institute (KEEI) in the middle-sized conference room on the third floor of the head office.
There were 50 people in attendance at the seminar, including high-ranking officials, including the managing director of the New Energy Business Division, Kim Il-bae, and the managing director of the Power Technology Research Institute, Kim Yong-soo. Also invited and present was Dr. Kim Ki-hwan from KEEI as an expert in the relevant field to lead an in-depth discussion on hydrogen energy, an essential technology for the government to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Main topics addressed in the seminar included technology and infrastructure trends, policies by sector, ways to establish enabling technologies, ways to push the business forward, and the mid- to long-term implications of relevant policies. This was followed by a Q&A session and discussions. During the seminar, KEPCO E&C was able to formulate measures for securing hydrogen energy technology and ways to develop them as business.
Going forward, KEPCO E&C will respond to the government’s hydrogen economy advancement policies and concentrate its efforts on periods before and after the “power generation demand situation” focused on plans for the infrastructure building project.
