Subject Support for Enhancing Equipment Qualification Capability of Nuclear Equipment Vendors

On September 28, KEPCO E&C held the 'Nuclear Equipment Qualification Seminar' to strengthen the nuclear power equipment suppliers' ability to perform qualificaiton tasks.

The online ceremony was attended by more than 60 engineers from nuclear equipment suppliers and nuclear-related agencies, including Hyundai Heavy Industries, LG Electronics, and Korea Testing Laboratory.

The seminar included in-depth presentations and inquiries on subjects such as △ comparison of internal responses to limitations according to the reinforcement of nuclear cabinet equipment, △ improvement measures for onsite management of manufacturer's internal performance verification, △ program for qualification of safety-related electrical equipment and audit possibilities △ KHNP’s current CGID operation policy and main issues, △ equipment control methods and practices for seismic and vibration testing, and △ contemplation of revision on RG 1.180 (R2).

Lee Duk-Su, the head of Nuclear Safety Center said, “We must strive to restore public confidence in nuclear safety by sharing the information on nuclear equipment qulification and enhance the competitiveness of the nuclear industry based on quality assurance.

KEPCO E&C has been supporting technologies related to the equipment qulification to nuclear equipment suppliers, and plans to take a step ahead to reinforce nuclear safety and restore public confidence by providing quality assurance of safety-related devices.
