![]() KEPCO E&C signed on May 16 an MOU for cooperation in dry storage of spent nuclear fuel in Korea with Orano TN and SeAH Besteel. Held at KEPCO E&C’s Gimcheon head office, the MOU signing ceremony was attended by officials from the three companies including Park Beom-seo, head of KEPCO E&C’s Nuclear Division, Lee Jae-min, Orano TN Korea’s president, and Hong Sang-beom, Executive Director of SeAH Besteel Korea. The three companies have agreed to expand cooperation to enter the business of dry storage of spent nuclear fuel by utilizing their respective capabilities. KEPCO E&C will be in charge of engineering and licensing support for the system for dry storage of spent nuclear fuel. Orano TN will provide the dry storage technology, and SeAH Besteel will manufacture and supply the dry storage container. “Safe storage of spent nuclear fuel is an important challenge for the sustainability of nuclear power. We will play the leading role in dry storage engineering for spent fuel in Korea through the close cooperation of the three companies,” said Park Beom-seo, head of KEPCO E&C’s Nuclear Division. |
