On November 4, KEPCO E&C signed an MOU with LG Chemical to cooperate for global ESS projects. The MOU signing ceremony, held at KEPCO E&C’s head office in Gimcheon, Gyeongbuk, was attended by Kim Il-bae, director of the Business Development Department at KEPCO E&C, Shin Yeong-jun, Managing Director of LG Chemical, and officials from each company.

LG Chemical is the world’s largest lithium-ion battery manufacturer and supplier. The company is leading the market by quickly expanding ESS projects orders and deliveries in the global market. By signing the MOU, the two companies agreed to lay the foundation for global business development through mutual data exchange and cooperation for ESS business development and research measures for ESS technology development at the same time.

KEPCO E&C is focusing on the new & renewable energy sector, including ESS, as part of the future growth engine to support the government’s energy conversion policy. It is continuously expanding its business domain by actively implementing ESS business development in Korea and abroad.

This MOU is the opportunity for KEPCO E&C to lay the foundation to grow into an EPC company in the rapidly expanding global ESS market and for LG Chemical to grow beyond the battery manufacturing and supply to the execution of system linked independent projects.
