From June 30th to July 9th, KEPCO E&C hosted a 10-day ‘Power Engineering School Summer Camp’ as part of an education program aimed at training would-be engineers.

Marking the 7th anniversary this summer, Power Engineering School have provided summer and winter training course for university students majoring in science and engineering during vacation periods since 2011. 66 students recommended by 33 universities including Pusan National University participated in this year’s summer camp.

Students enjoyed a variety of programs during the camp: lectures delivered by experts on 12 nuclear and thermal power related subjects, guided tour to Hadong Thermal Power Plant and Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant, humanities lecture and visits to historical sites.

KEPCO E&C encouraged the students to learn not only their own major but also other engineering necessary for designing nuclear power plants during the camp, enabling them to develop integrative thinking by extending their range of perspective to other engineering fields as well. Students could directly experience what they had learned in theory from class by visiting the power plants and learning from professors who have rich work experience on the industrial sites.

Students also shared their concerns and thoughts with peers throughout the 10-day training camp, forming a sense of fellowship. KEPCO E&C provided a variety of communication programs such as team workshop to help the would-be engineers to keep in touch with each other after the camp.

KEPCO E&C will give scholarship to 10 students who received outstanding grade throughout the camp. In addition, our company is slated to host winter camp in December to help prominent would-be engineers to choose the right career in power engineering field.
