MOU with Seoul Sharp Heavy Industries for Atmospheric Environment Business

KOPEC signed an MOU with Seoul Sharp Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. to pursue R&D and the joint development and operation of a desulfurization and denitrification business, on April 15 (Wed.)

On the basis of the MOU, the two companies will develop desulfurization and de-nitrification businesses in both the domestic and global markets, jointly, in addition to conducting the relevant R&D and the commercialization and marketing of a charge transfer type of denitrification catalyst, through close cooperation in various areas including ▶ the exchange of information and creation of a database, ▶ the receipt and execution of joint orders, and ▶ the mutual exchange of and support for technologies and technical human resources.

Since the selection of the Low Temperature Denitrification and Desulfurization Technology and System developed by KOPEC as one of the global top products by the Korean authorities, we have been providing plants and buildings, as well as thermal power plants, with advanced atmospheric pollution control solutions, earning recognition as an eco-friendly, green power plant design provider. Seoul Sharp Heavy Industries, which is a prospective medium-sized business specializing in atmospheric pollution control facilities, equipped with a number of excellent performance references in the field of desulfurization and denitrification systems, is expected to support our capabilities in environmental businesses with its excellent competitive power in terms of technology and costs on the basis of mutual cooperation.

After entering into a cooperative relationship in 2005, the two companies successfully completed the installation of a Denitrification System in the Sithe Icheon Cogeneration Plant of Hynix Semiconductor, a $5M project, jointly in 2008. The win-win relationship between the two companies will create a profit basis and help to position the green industry as a new growth engine through joint R&D and projects.
