KOPEC Awarded 1^st in “Volunteer Service” at the “2008 Social Contribution Corporate Awards” Sponsored by the Economic Daily

 

Korea Power Engineering Company Inc. (KOPEC) was awarded 1st prize for “Volunteer Service” at the 2008 Social Contribution Corporate Awards, sponsored by the Korea Economic Daily and held at the Chosun Hotel on November 26, 2008. The Social Contribution Corporate Awards aim to contribute to corporate development and to promote social responsibility. KOPEC was awarded the 1st prize for “Volunteer Service” in recognition of its success in: 1) fulfilling its economic responsibilities, including the meeting of the number 1 goal and responsibility of a company, namely the maximization of profit, and promoting employment; 2) making the utmost use of its resources and capacity in the sphere of social responsibility activities, as well as the work of the KOPEC Chamsarang Volunteers, an internal volunteer group, in the field of community service.

KOPEC was awarded the 1st prize for “Volunteer Service” at this year’s Social Contribution Corporate Awards for the third year running since 2006. This achievement has allowed KOPEC to improve its corporate image and reliability and promote its social responsibility achievements, and has served as a stepping-stone to KOPEC’s becoming a sustainable corporation.

The 2008 Social Contribution Corporate Awards recognized 21 organizations - such as KOPEC, Korea South East Power Co., Ltd., Korea Tourism Organization, and KoreaLife Insurance - in 18 different fields, including Volunteer Service, Environmental Preservation, and Community Development.
