KOPEC signed an MOU with en2t (Environment & Energy Technology, Inc.) on January 19, 2006 to jointly promote environmental food waste recycling projects.

The objective of the MOU is to establish a basis for the successful implementation of food waste recycling projects to generate new and renewable alternative  energy from food waste, which is an emerging environmental issue facing the nation as well as global metropolitan areas.  Strategic goal of the MOU is to produce carbonated charcoal renewable energy using salt-tolerant mushroom strains and food wastes.

en2t has been selected as a strategic partner of KOPEC to jointly launch the  food waste recycling business and thus expand KOPEC’s  business portfolio and enhance profit model because en2t  has necessary patents on food waste recycling technology  using salt-tolerant mushroom strains.  The company is listed as one of the pioneering environmental venture company using Bio Systems technology and this innovative food waste recycling technology has been certified as an Environmental New Technologies by the Ministry of Environment.

Combining KOPEC’s advanced plant engineering technologies and en2t ’s innovative Bio Systems technology, this strategic partnership will provide environment- and public-friendly food waste recycling solution for the global environmental market in food waste managements and alternative renewable energy development.
