The initial synchronization of the Takoradi T2 Expansion project in Ghana was successfully completed at  on April 30.

After the rather lengthy preparations, initial synchronization was successfully carried out on the day by synchronizing the electricity, which is generated by operating the ST under normal conditions using a pre-existing gas turbine, to the 161kV Swtichyard, thereby producing a maximum load of 52 MW. The event was held in the presence of technical staff from the KEPCO E&C, staff members from TICO, the project host, and TGIOC, the facility operator. The No-Load test, comprising the steam turbine overspeed test, variation test, AVR test, and generator open/short circuit test, was also conducted prior to synchronization.

The synchronization of the T2 project, conducted as part of the KEPCO E&C’s first comprehensive EPC project, and encompassing every aspect from design to installation, has contributed significantly to raising its EPC execution capacity and stature.

KEPCO E&C will make concerted efforts to successfully complete the general test operation and performance test in the coming months, in order to complete the project on time.
