KOPEC wins work of installation of condensed water desalination/ waste water treatment facility
for light-water reactor
On April 13, the Company was selected by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power as the successful bidder for the EPC (erection, procurement and construction) work of condensed water desalination/ waste water treatment facility for light-water reactors at nuclear power plants, following the bidding held last February.
The work for the installation of a facility for the transfer of waste water containing high-density ETA (ethanolamine) generated in the course of recycling ion exchange resin in the condensed water desalination facility of the light-water reactors at nuclear power plants (currently operating at Yeonggwang Units 1-6, Uljin Units 1-4 and Gori Units 1-4) for treatment in a way that meets the reinforced legal requirement concerning water quality and aquatic/ecological system conservation. The new facility is expected to contribute to operation of environmentally-friendly nuclear power plants.
The Company will assume the responsibility for design, supply of equipment/devices, installation and commissioning. The Company expects that the work will serve as an occasion to enhance its competitiveness in the EPC work concerning nuclear power plants and prove its ability to carry out a project that requires a high level of technological expertise.
It is expected that the Company’s successful completion of the work will put it at an advantageous position to win related additional works. The Nuclear Project & Engineering Division of the Company plans to carry out the project, placing priority on customer satisfaction, fully utilizing the experience accumulated in the area of nuclear power plant design.
