“Quality Day” with Vendors to Improve Design Quality

KEPCO E&C invited 35 of its vendors to the “Quality Day” event dedicated to improving design quality on September 19.

KEPCO E&C held the “Quality Day” event to raise vendors’ awareness of design quality and safety culture, with more than 150 persons in attendance including KEPCO E&C’s acting CEO Jo Jik-Lae, and the CEOs, chief quality officers and managers of 35 vendors.

The event program started with an introduction to △improvement of the criteria for the PQ quality management capability assessment, and continued with △presentation of the results of an analysis of the vendor quality trend and improvement opportunities, △an introduction to the KEPCO E&C – vendor collaboration system, and △a special guest lecture.

Professor Ree Sang-bok of Seokyeong University was invited to give a lecture on “The Paradigm Shift of Quality Management in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

Professor Ree emphasized that quality is not an option but a must since changes in human life and technology are being rapidly accelerated by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

He added that an enterprise’s quality is equivalent to its performance and that enterprises must manage quality as their top priority with the aim of providing the very best products and services.

Meanwhile, in his speech, acting CEO Jo Jik-Lae stated that “The competitiveness of KEPCO E&C originates from the growth of its vendors. KEPCO E&C and its partners can achieve cooperative growth by managing quality and safety as the highest priority amid an environment in which the energy industry is continuously required to change.”

KEPCO E&C plans to conduct various programs, including the “Quality Day”, to improve design quality, vendor engineering training and education on technology security and ethics in order to achieve shared growth with vendors.
