Signing an agreement to maintain the safety analysis code for nuclear power plants...

At the Yousung Hotel in Daejeon on September 20, KEPCO E&C signed an agreement to repair and maintain the ‘Safety and Performance Analysis Code for nuclear power plants (SPACE) and nuclear power plant application methodology’ with KHNP, KAERI, and KEPCO NF.
The signing ceremony, which also served as a workshop to celebrate the acquisition of the license for the safety and performance analysis code of nuclear power plants and methodology, was attended by Lee Gwang-Won, head of KEPCO E&C’s NSSS division , along with Lee Jong-Ho, head of KHNP’s Technology & Engineering division, Baek Won-Pil, executive vice-president of KAERI, and Kwon Jeong-Taek, head of KEPCO NF’s Technology & Engineering division
The agreement aims to improve the international competitiveness of domestic safety analysis technology, and to maintain and improve the SPACE code developed by Korea, while each participating organization will make efforts to △modify or improve the codes and its application methodologies, △operate user groups, and △maintain technology security through collaborative efforts.
In addition, speakers at the workshop discussed the status of licensing and the future direction of R&D, while KEPCO E&C’s safety analysis department general manager, Park Chan-Eok, was presented with an award in recognition of his contribution to the development of the SPACE code.
