KEPCO E&C held on April 26 a seminar on equipment verification for nuclear equipment supply companies.

The seminar was overseen by KEPCO E&C and Korea Nuclear Equipment Advancement Association (Chairman Lee Un-jang). Over 100 technicians from equipment verification agencies attended, including representatives from nuclear equipment supply companies like Kukju Electric, Century, Ilshin Valve, and SGS Korea.

The participants exchanged information and held discussions on the following topics: 1) companies that provide equipment verification services and state of inspections; 2) status of the certification system for equipment performance verification agencies; 3) how to begin identifying counterfeits, imitations, and non-compliant goods (CFSI: Counterfeit, Fraudulent, and Suspect Item); 4) quality verification of standard regulation goods when supplying basic equipment, and; 5) evaluations of earthquake resistance performed on nuclear reactor sites.

“Since the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster, the public’s insecurity regarding nuclear plants has been increasing. Organizations in the nuclear  industry must work with persistence on restoring the faith of the public by focusing on improving quality,” said Kim Yeong-ho, head of the nuclear business department.

KEPCO E&C intends do its utmost to regain the public’s trust in nuclear reactors by lending technical support to nuclear reactor equipment suppliers and increasing their understanding of equipment verification.
