On May 9, 2012, the ceremony of timely completion of the cold hydro test at Shin-Kori Unit 3 and the initial energization at Unit 4 was held at the construction site located in Ulsan, south-eastern part of South Korea.

The ceremony took place in the venues of Auditorium, Unit 3 Main Control Room and Unit 4 Transformer with the attendance of CEO, Auditor, Construction Division leaders, Kori NPP Leader, Shin-Kori Unit 2 site managers, constructors, and executives and employees from the partners. Senior Executive Vice President of the NSSS Division, Senior Vice President of the Construction BG, PMs of SD and A/E and site managers attended the ceremony representing KEPCO E&C.

The cold hydro test aims to verify the soundness of the equipment that forms part of the Reactor Coolant Pressure Boundary (RCPB). For the test at Unit 3 starting May 1 this year, the reactor coolant system came under pressurization by 1.25 times from the design pressure for more than 10 minutes. The test was completed on May 6 when no leakage was found in all the joints that remained within the pressure boundary after reduction of the design pressure.

Incoming circuit breaker of the switchgear enabled the initial energization at Unit 4. Electricity was supplied via the off-site power as the regular supply source, SWYD, SAT and switchgear.

\With the success of the cold hydro test at Unit 3, confidence on the on-track major milestone was boosted including the Hot Functional Test (HFT) and fuel loading, raising expectation on the timely completion of Unit 3. The construction of Shin-Kori Unit 3 is expected to be completed by September 2013 and Unit 4 by September 2014.
