KEPCO E&C-Areva Agreement on Load Following Technical Consulting Service ...

KEPCO E&C and Areva signed an agreement on load following technical consulting service in Paris, France on June 14th, 2012. The contract signing ceremony was held that day with the presence of Senior Vice President of the NSSS Division Yang Jun Seok and Vice President of the Project Managers Office Lee Deuck Soo from KEPCO E&C and Vice President for business development Yves-Marie Pace and Vice President for plant design Bruno Marchal from Areva. 

The purpose of this signed agreement is to develop the reactor control mode technology for OPR1000 and thereby to ensure load following capability for OPR1000 and APR1400.   

In the technical cooperation meeting that ensued, Areva gave a presentation on the status of KEPCO E&C-Areva cooperation in EPC business including projects for supply and replacement of major equipment in the Korean nuclear power plant market that are in partnership with us at KEPCO E&C. The two parties discussed a joint business development agenda on the replacement of the tester for the reactor protection system at Ulchin Units 1 & 2. The agenda is currently under consideration as part of efforts to establish the EPC business in the domestic and overseas markets and to implement advanced technologies.  

In the meantime, KEPCO E&C and Areva agreed to make a concerted effort for further business development by consulting with Korea’s plant operators and regulatory body with regard to post-Fukushima follow-up measures. The two companies also shared the view to review and steer a joint project for replacement of instrumentation and control (I&C ) components at Yonggwang Units 1 & 2 and Ulchin Units 1 & 2.

The meeting participants reached a consensus that they would step up bilateral cooperation and drive up efforts for expansion of nuclear projects and co-properity
