KEPCO E&C participated in 2012 PBNC (Pacific Basin Nuclear Conference) and the Nuclear Energy Korea expo held in BEXCO, Busan from March 18~ 22.

The PBNC, the largest international conference in the field of nuclear power, is held every two years in one of the PNC member countries to promote the peaceful utilization of nuclear energy. Held under the theme of ‘Sustained Utilization of Nuclear Energy through the Improvement of Safety and Security’, this year’s PBNC was participated in by twelve PNC member countries including Korea, China, Japan, Russia and the USA, and attended by 800 or so nuclear energy policy makers as well as dignitaries from academia, research and industry in twenty-three countries including France, Germany, and the UAE.

Thirty-two KEPCO E&C employees presented technical papers and discussed current issues at the conference, with a particular focus on the future development of nuclear energy in light of last year’s Fukushima nuclear power plant accident.

Meanwhile, the 2012 Nuclear Energy Korea exhibition, held in parallel with the PNBC, included the participation of KEPCO E&C, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co.Ltd (KHNP), the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), Doosan Heavy Industries, and ninety-five companies from twelve countries.

KEPCO E&C’s booth introduced the company, equipment designed to cope with major accidents and combat radiation, the APR1400, and reliable nuclear energy. The booth earned a favorable response from visitors who received various promotional materials, as well as detailed replies to their questions from KEPCO’s expert engineers. The company also provided a separate ‘Hand in Hand With Our Partners’ booth participated in by Sungil SIM, CNG Softek, and Pomit for shared growth and cooperation with vendors.

KEPCO E&C believes this year’s PNBC and Nuclear Energy Korea expo provided important opportunities to show Korea’s nuclear energy industry to the world and establish its position as the leading exporter of nuclear power plant to the world market.
