KEPCO E&C held a ‘Communication with College Students’ session at KEPCO E&C Power Engineering Training Center on March 9, 2012. The event was attended by fifty or so college students who completed the ‘Power Engineering School’ (PES) sponsored by KEPCO E&C.

PES is a training program held each year to develop future engineers in the power technology area by KEPCO E&C, which is the only Korean company with nuclear power plant design know-how and advanced thermal power plant standard design technology. KEPCO E&C explained the results of the PES program and sought the participants’ opinions on improving the program. It also introduced the college graduate recruitment strategy for 2012 to provide practical help to students seeking employment after graduation.

The event was attended by Gwan-seop Lee, Director of Energy Resources at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, who participated in the 2nd Energy and Nuclear Power Generational Harmony Discussion Meeting. Lee discussed energy status in Korea as well as the need for nuclear power and the crucial importance of safety. Students also showed keen interest in the power area, posing questions related to Korea’s mid-to-long-term energy policy, power supply and demand problems, and the safety of nuclear power plants and radiation waste storage.

After the Q&A session and lively communication with the students, Lee asked them to maintain their interest in the power generation area and contribute to the growth of the power industry in Korea by developing their talents in the power area.

KEPCO E&C plans to continue expanding opportunities to communicate with PES graduates and other college students to help them better understand power generation, including nuclear power, and to develop outstanding human resources with a passionate interest in power generation technology.
