KEPCO E&C convened a group meeting of Safety and Reliability Evaluation eXpert (SAREX) users on May 30 ~ 31 to enable companies that have purchased SAREX, a probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) software developed by the KEPCO E&C, to discuss new functions, future directions of software development, and pending issues regarding PSA technology. 

The meeting was attended by more than 50 employees from 13 organizations including member companies such as Future and Challenge, ACT, the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute.

The meeting proceeded as follows: a briefing on the new features of the latest version of SAREX (Version 1.3); a presentation and discussions about directions for future development; a listening session to gather requests for improvement, and a Q&A about the features of SAREX.

Developed in 2001 as Version 1.0, SAREX has largely been used for PSA work. It has been sold to six domestic and two foreign organizations so far, and is being provided free of charge to twenty-one domestic and foreign educational institutions, regulatory agencies, and overseas advisory organizations.

KEPCO E&C conducts annual user training sessions for employees from various organizations that use SAREX, with 242 trainees to date.

Going forward, KEPCO E&C will continue to hold user group conferences and training related to SAREX in order to seek additional sales through the promotion of its new functions and to secure technical superiority over rival software products in Korea and abroad.
