| Contract Overview |
The purpose of this software is to calculate the crack-opening displacement and area, and the flow rate through both circumferential and axial cracks in piping. The program is useful in LBB(leak-before-break analyses) where it is necessary to show detectable leak rates for cracks with size less than that associated with crack instability. The purpose of this software is to perform the analysis of fatigue carck growth of pre-existing crack-like defects in commercial light water reactor piping. The following are the major strength: - The capability to perform both probabilistic and deterministic analysis. - The capability to separate inherent randomness (aleatory) from uncertainty due to lack of knowledge (epistemic) by two loops of calculation. - Modular construction for ease of future changes. - Update of stress intensity factor and J-integral solutions. - Consideration of service bending and tension loads (rather than all tension). |

| Reason(s) for the Sole Sourcing | Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) been involved in application of LBB technology since the company was formed in 1983. SIA obtained ownership of the PICEP software from EPRI in 2011 and has developed a safety related Windows-based version of this software called SI-PICEP. Also, PRAISE was originally developed in 1981 to provide a probabilistic tool. PRAISE has been expanded during the intervening years, including incorporation of intergranular stress corrosion crack initiation and growth (IGSCC), a PC version, fatigue crack initiation, a Windows version for ease of use and inclusion of initiation and growth of Pressurized Water Stress Corrosion Cracking (PWSCC). beyond-PRAISE 1.0 is PRAISE that has been rewritten and restructured to provide numerous expansions and enhancements in SIA. |
