Contract Title Contract for Consulting Services for the Technical Review of the Burnup Credited Criticality Analysis for a Spent Nuclear Fuel Dry Storage Cask
Contract Overview The purpose of this consultation is to review the following items used in the criticality analysis of the KEPCO E&C cask (OASIS-32D)
1) review the depletion calculaiton methodology,
2) review the criticality calculation methodology,
3) review the consideration of burnup credit,
4) review the single and multiple misloading analysis, and
5) review the loading curve generation.

Reason(s) for the Sole Sourcing Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is the largest laboratory belonged to US Department of Energy, conducting basic and applied
research.
ORNL has developed SCALE code package which is a comprehensive modeling and simulation suite for nuclear safety analysis and
design under contract with the US NRC to perform reactor physics, criticality safety, radiation shielding, and spent fuel
characterization for nuclear facilities and transportation & storage package designs.
And also, ORNL has worked closely with the US NRC in the development of ISG-8 rev.3 guidance on burnup credited criticality analysis for
transportation and storage packages.
According to the review of technical capabilities and expertise, ORNL is considered as an appropriate organization to perform the
consultation.
