KEPCO E&C obtained on December 28 an order from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. to provide an ‘detail design for MACST designed to implement major accident management strategies.’

The project calls for installing multi-barrier response facilities coping with extreme disasters at power plants pursuant to the obligation to submit accident management plan under Article 20 (Operation Permission) of the Nuclear Safety Act, which was prescribed in June 2016.

KEPCO E&C plans to do the following and other necessary works to ensure efficient arrangement of MACST facilities and smooth detail design for 48 months from January 2021: preparing purchase specifications for facilities to be installed, finding optimal system-connected method; and preparing the design change document.
KEPCO E&C to achieve the feat of obtaining orders in excess of 150 billion a year, which marked the first time since the establishment of O&M Business Department in 2020.

It is expected that the project will help the KEPCO E&C significantly improve its international competitiveness in the field of extreme disaster management by allowing it to secure related technologies including those for evaluating accident management capabilities and establishing accident management strategies.
