-  To build infrastructure for renewable energy digital twin and demonstration research of environment-friendly transportation -

KEPCO E&C signed an agreement with the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning on December 24 on the government project to "build infrastructure for renewable energy digital twin and demonstration research of environment-friendly transportation."

The government project is a technology development task to be carried out by five institutions, including the Korea Institute Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning (Saemangeum Promotion Unit), LS Electric Co. and Hanyang University, for 26 months from November 2020. It carries a budget of about 30.4 billion won, of which KEPCO E&C will account for 15.9 billion won.

KEPCO E&C’s main tasks will be overall project management, concept design of the demonstration complex infrastructure, design of the basic infrastructure of the demonstration complex, building power network and 70kV cable facility, building water electrolysis and hydrogen shipment facility, technical support for building digital twin system and technical support for licenses and permits.

KEPCO E&C expects that the technology development tasks will help it establish the concept of micro grid comprehensive design, which is essential for sustaining stable electric power system now threatened by the increase of volatile renewable energy, demonstrate green hydrogen sector coupling (P2G) through water electrolysis, and secure AI-based EMS technology.

KEPCO E&C plans to expand its business area by securing A/E(Architect Engineering) and O&M(Operation & Maintenance) technology for renewable energy micro grid in line with government policies, and hopes to play a leading role in implementing green new deal policies with the technology development tasks.
