Signing of MOU with KOICA and KIND

KEPCO E&C signed an MOU with Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for cooperation in the modernization of overseas new & renewable energy and aged power plants at KOICA’s head office in Seongnam on July 31.

The purpose of the MOU is to combine the unique functions and strengths each institution organically in the modernization of new & renewable energy and aging power plants overseas to actively contribute to the government's New Southern Policy and New North Korea Policy as well as the mutual development of Korea and developing countries. The three institutions have agreed to develop and execute projects jointly from the planning stage.

KEPCO E&C, as an energy-specializing institution, will provide its expertise in new & renewable energy and the efficiency increase of energy production of old power plants. KOICA will provide the trust, project experience, and know-how accumulated through its contribution to the promotion of friendly cooperation between Korea and developing countries through various grant project. KIND will provide the know-how on financing and operation needed for investment in overseas infrastructure.

The three institutions plan to divide their roles as described below for the new & renewable energy projects that they will plan and manage jointly.

     1. KEPCO E&C; Overall technical control, equity share, SPC operation, EPC, etc.
     2. KOICA: Grant, equity share, etc.
     3. KIND: Financing, support for feasibility studies, equity share, etc.

KEPCO E&C expects that the signing of the MOU will be a crucial milestone for establishing new business models to expand and develop sustainable new & renewable energy distribution overseas.
