- Bilateral cooperation to lead Industry 4.0 in power industry -

KEPCO E&C and Korea East-West Power Co. on March 3 pledged to seek technical cooperation as part of efforts to pioneer the 4th Industrial Revolution, otherwise known as “Industry 4.0.” The ceremony was attended by KEPCO E&C CEO Park Koo-woun, EWP CEO  Kim Yong-jin and related officials of both firms.

The purpose of the MOU is to create new business models and lead the 4th industrial revolution for the electric power industry by integrating KEPCO E&C’s comprehensive engineering solutions with EWP’s experience and know-how in plant construction.

Under the agreement, both companies will pursue intelligence-based “smart power plant” projects, improve plant design for smoother operations, provide and share information regarding new technologies and develop new engineering solutions.

KEPCO E&C and EWP have closely cooperated before when building thermal power plant units 9 and 10, which were also the nation’s first commercialized 1,000MW coal-fired plants, in Dangjin. Since then, mutual cooperation has expanded, including the recent project to enhance the performance of 500MW thermal power plants.
