In its December 2nd week issue, ENR (Engineering News-Record), the construction and engineering weekly magazine based in the United States, ranked KEPCO E&C 2nd in the world for revenue from overseas nuclear power plant design projects.

Every year, ENR publishes a ranking of construction and engineering companies around the world based on their revenue from overseas projects in the previous year.

Based on the performance for 2015, KEPCO E&C received an overall 95th ranking among the top 225 international design firms. In individual categories, KEPCO E&C ranked 22nd for overseas revenue from power design. KEPCO E&C earned revenue of 92.6 million dollars from overseas nuclear power plant design projects, placing it 2nd in the world in this category.

For four consecutive years from 2012 to 2015, KEPCO E&C was ranked #1 in the world for overseas revenue from nuclear power plant design. This year, despite strong performances from European and US companies, KEPCO E&C was still able to maintain the top-level ranking and was the only Asian company to do so.

With the nuclear power plant design project in Barakah, UAE, as its current core project, KEPCO E&C is pursuing numerous other nuclear-power-related businesses such as the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project.

Also, in the cogeneration power category of the Top International Contractors group, KEPCO E&C was ranked 9thin the world, with revenue of about 59.5 million dollars.

KEPCO E&C’s engineering knowhow, accumulated in the domestic power plant market, was very helpful in successfully implementing the cogeneration power plant expansion projects (carried out as EPC projects) in Ghana and Cote D’Ivoire.

President & CEO Koo-woun Park stated, "The engineering market is dominated by advanced countries. A domestic company like KEPCO E&C being recognized abroad for our competitiveness is a significant achievement." He further added, "We will do our best to elevate Korea’s industrial competitiveness through our engineering capabilities.

2016 was a difficult year for winning contracts because of the global economic downturn. But KEPCO E&C was able to steadily expand its markets by targeting the small to medium-sized nuclear power plant markets and participating in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor project.

On June 9, 2016, KEPCO E&C signed a comprehensive design service agreement of the System-integrated Modular Advanced Reactor or SMART.

On June 27, KEPCO E&C became a partner company for construction management-as-agent services (CMA) for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor being constructed in Cadarache, France.

KEPCO E&C will play its role as the technological center for the nuclear power industry as it strives to land another national project after the UAE nuclear power plant construction project.
