KEPCO E&C held the signing ceremony of the business acquisition certificate and the final agreement for the “Côte d'Ivoire CIPREL IV Volet B EPC project” on May 26.

Executive Vice President Kim Jae-won, N’guessan Koussi, president of CIPREL, and other related figures of two companies were attending the ceremony.

According to the business acquisition certificate signed, the CIPREL combined cycle power plant completed on February 17 was officially handed over to CIPREL.

The project was first launched in September 2013 and its steam blowing was completed in November 2015. It had it first power grid feeding in December 2015, with the completion ceremony held on February 17, 2016.

Following the completion ceremony, the power plant met all conditions and operated without any problems. The business acquisition certificate was signed.

As a result, KEPCO E&C recorded a milestone of completing a foreign EPC project successfully, with Côte d'Ivoire considerably improving its ability to supply electricity.

“KEPCO E&C’s technology and human capital can work together with CIPREL as a valuable partner and help in West Africa’s development and growth. As a French proverb goes, ‘Old friends and old currencies are best.’ I hope the past 3 years of cooperation grow into a partnership lasting 30 years or more,” Executive Vice President Kim Jae-won, said in his welcome speech.

CIPREL President N’guessan Koussi lauded KEPCO E&C’s passion and technology that enabled successfully finishing the project under such adverse conditions as different climate, culture, and language and expressed hope that the two companies will have a continuous relationship.

Through this project, KEPCO E&C increased its success rate in the foreign market by acquiring experience in overcoming limiting environmental factors and peculiarities in the foreign power plant market.

In the future, KEPCO E&C plans to develop new projects in Africa and Southeast Asia (including the CIPREL V Volet B EPC project) to expand new bases in the world power plant EPC market continuously.
