KEPCO E&C has signed a renewed memorandum of understanding (MOU) for Indian EPC projects with Tiana Group on February 17, 2011 at Courtyard Mumbai Hotel, Mumbai, India.

KEPCO E&C and TIANA Group had signed an MOU on the construction of four thermal power plant projects including the 2x680MW Kochi Combined Cycle Power Plant in Kerala state in July last year.

The renewed MOU stipulates that KEPCO E&C has exclusive rights to conduct the Kochi project on the basis of turnkey EPC. Signing the MOU is expected to be the stepping stone to entering into the Indian power market based on design technology and knowhow of KEPCO E&C backed by financing capability of TIANA Group.

“I expect that KEPCO E&C will construct power plants of the best quality with its rich experience in engineering and construction. It will build most thermal power projects that are being planned by Tiana Group on the result of the Kochi project,” A. M. Nathani, founder of TIANA Group, said.

Meanwhile, Chi-Seon Park, Executive Senior Vice President of KEPCO E&C, said, “As the best engineering and construction company in the Korean power sector, we will do our best for the success of the Kochi project. I hope that trust and cooperation between two companies will produce tangible results this year.”
