 KOPEC celebrated its 30th anniversary of establishment on October 2. An anniversary ceremony was held on September 30 at Seoul Jamsil Stadium in the participation of over 2,000 people including employees of KOPEC and affiliated companies. At the ceremony, Lim, Sung Choon, president and CEO of KOPEC, said, “We are not here to simply celebrate the 30th anniversary of our establishment. We are here to make sure that we will continue to grow for the next 30 years and furthermore 100 years from now. We will also contribute to the society through reforming in management, creating a healthy corporate culture, and supporting small and medium enterprises.” He asked for the support of all employees in keeping these promises.

 Since established in 1975, KOPEC has achieved self-reliance in nuclear power plant engineering technology. In the past 30 years, KOPEC designed a total of 14 nuclear power plants and has been developing a next-generation nuclear power system called APR1400 and now on KOPEC become a global nuclear power company. KOPEC also boasts of international competitiveness in thermal power (plant) engineering technology, as it also designed more than 40 coal-fired thermal power plants as well as a number of combined cycle and cogeneration (combined heat and power) plants. As a testimony to this, the Poryong and Taean Thermal Power Plants were selected as one of the best power plants in the world. Based on its experience in power plant engineering and construction, KOPEC also carried out a number of national projects including Incheon International Airport and Korea Train Express as a project management company. With the successful completion of these projects, KOPEC is now recognized as the top construction project management company in Korea.

 KOPEC is also playing a leading role in research and development, as it has developed the KoNOxTM, low temperature DeNOx system as well as HANARO, which is recognized as one of the top 10 research reactors in the world. With investing more than 10% of its total annual sales in research and development, KOPEC plans to make more efforts to develop new technologies and improve its power plant engineering capability. Furthermore, beyond the current status of the best engineering company in Korea, KOPEC will achieve a leading contractor in the world, serving customers with top quality and contributing to the society. And those activities can be realized its cooperate vision-“Creating harmony between people, environment and technology”
