| Contract Title | Identification of root cause for the reactor coolant gas vent system (RCGVS) issue and determination of corrective actions through CFD analysis |
| Contract Overview | Due to unexpected performance behavior of SOVs such as the spurious opening and closing, the RCGVS test has failed several times during BNPP Units 1 and 2 HFT. Since the failure of RCGVS test has great impact on the BNPP process, the cause for unexpected performance behavior of SOVs has to be identified and corrective action should be applied to RCGVS as soon as possible. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) is the optimized analysis method to identify the cause of fluid system problems. Therefore, objective of the contract is to identify the cause of RCGVS issue and to determine the corrective action through CFD analysis |

| Reason(s) for the Sole Sourcing | There are many companies in Korea and abroad who can perform the CFD analysis. However, since the RCGVS issue is caused by unexpected performance behavior of SOVs, the design information for SOVs supplied by Target Lock is essential to perform the CFD analysis. MPR is the only company which has the valve design information classified as property of valve supplier (Target Lock). In addition, MPR has a lot of experience in performing CFD analysis with Target Lock. Therefore, the contract with MPR is essential for successful solution of RCGVS issue in a timely manner. |
