Signing of an MOU on Cooperation with Doosan Enerbility and Samsung C&T’s Construction Unit

On June 14, KEPCO E&C signed an “MOU on Mutual Cooperation for Promotion of Green Ammonia Co-Fired Power Generation Business” with Doosan Enerbility and SamsungC&T’s Construction Unit to achieve the goal of 2050 Carbon Neutrality.

The signing ceremony held at the Doosan Tower building in Bundang was attended by officials of the signatory companies, including KEPCO E&C President Kim Sung-arm, Doosan Enerbility President Jeong Yeon-in, and Samsung C&T’s Construction Unit President Oh Se-chul.

The three companies agreed to cooperate with each other with respect to technology development, professional training, and business development/ implementation to establish and demonstrate the viability of green ammonia co-fired power generation. They plan to revitalize the green ammonia co-fired power generation industry based on technologies secured through production and domestic procurement and utilization of green ammonia.

According to this MOU, KEPCO E&C will be responsible for technology development of green ammonia co-fired power plant engineering (plant-linked design technology & optimization), while Doosan Enerbility will develop major equipment such as ammonia co-firing boiler model and ammonia supply system using green ammonia, and Samsung C&T’s Construction Unit will procure green ammonia produced overseas and carry out related businesses.

According to the ‘Plan to Raise 2030 NDC (nationally determined contribution) Target’ and ‘2050 Carbon Neutrality Scenario’ announced by the government last year, the carbon-free power generation sector is expected to grow rapidly.

Aligned with this trend, KEPCO E&C is focused on securing a future growth engine for global competitiveness by actively participating in the development of power generation technology utilizing carbon-free hydrogen and ammonia and the vitalization of the power generation industry based on its engineering capabilities in the energy plant field.
