The purpose of this project is to review the Barakah NPPs design against the requirements of RG 1.189 R2, and NEI 00-01 and provide an analysis demonstrating how Barakah NPPs meet current MSO requirements as expressed in these documents.

This project will be broken into two phases. The Phase I MSO analysis will be performed using “Unit 1” design information, and due to the Barakah units similar construction will represent an initial MSO design verification for all four plants. This initial assessment is critical to effectively addressing any MSO issues which may benefit from cable re-routing, and equipment or system modifications prior to plant construction.

Phase II MSO analysis will incorporate plant as-built cable routing, equipment location, and incorporated design modifications to verify MSO compliance. Phase II will be performed on Barakah “Unit 1” as the design of cable routing is completed. The Phase II analysis will be prepared by KEPCO E&C and verified and issued as final by the Contractor.

If there are any design differences between units, it is vital that individual plant MSO analyses be performed to capture any cable routing or design differences between the plants, as these changes may introduce new MSO concerns that will require identification and resolution. The Contractor will be available to provide support services through KEPCO E&C with the Barakah NPPs and UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) personnel to address MSO training, Requests for Additional Information (RAIs), or design modification reviews including routing issue resolution.
|
