KEPCO E&C conducted joint training with the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and National Security Research Institute (NSRI) to improve the technical competencies of cybersecurity professionals in public organizations in the Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do region at its head office in Gimcheon from March 28 to 31.

The training was planned under the leadership of NIS to reflect the educational requirement of cybersecurity professionals at public institutions who desire to respond more systematically to ever-increasing cyber threats.

The training was configured into a field-level course (for 2 days from March 28 to 29) and management-level course (for 2 days from March 30 to 31) to customize for each duty type, which were attended by 52 professionals and managers from 20 institutions in Daegu, Gyeongsangbuk-do region.

The field-level course focused on practical tasks, including practicing response measures in response to a cyber-crisis using the NSRI’s Cyber Security Training and Exercise Center (CSTEC) training system. The management-level course included content necessary for managers responsible for the cybersecurity of each institution, such as new technology trends in cyber threats, cybersecurity policies, the role of information protection managers, and the use of private cloud services.

KEPCO E&C is the first public institution to conduct the joint training with NIS and NSRI to provide practical, customized technical training for regional cybersecurity professionals. It is significantly meaningful in that it provides an opportunity for them to cooperate and exchange knowledge and experience while enhancing the cybersecurity competency of each institution.

KEPCO E&C has recently signed a business agreement with NIS and nuclear-related organizations in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province to strengthen cybersecurity. It plans to improve the cyber safety of nuclear power plants and strengthen national cybersecurity by cooperating with NIS.
