KEPCO E&C gave out awards for outstanding technology development achievements and academic papers published in 2020 on July 5.

Given out every year to increase the company’s technological competitiveness, the awards recognize achievements in 2 separate categories. The outstanding technology development category seeks to enhance the overall quality of technology development projects and encourage the project participants to do better. The outstanding academic paper category recognizes those who contributed to the sharing of knowledge that could strengthen the company's technological capabilities. The winners are selected from among the technology development projects and academic papers published in the year 2020, after a 2-stage review process by the technical review committee and the main committee.

In outstanding technology development, the grand prize went to the “Development of Building Energy Management System Technology Based on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence” (Electrical, I&C Engineering Department, Nuclear Division). The “Development of Technology for Maintenance and High Performance of SPACE Code” was among the 4 other projects that received the excellent prize, and 2 other projects were also recognized with the encouragement prize.

The grand prize for outstanding academic paper was awarded to the “Design Method for Protection Against High Power Electromagnetic Wave Generated by Nuclear Power Plants” (Director Song Yi-chul, Nuclear Safety Engineering Center). “Microgrid Concept and Control Technology” was one of the 2 papers that received the excellent prize. 3 encouragement prizes and 2 participation prizes were also given out.

Going forward, the company intends to continue its efforts at improving its technological competitiveness through the creation of high value knowledge and strengthened core competences by promoting technology development and publication of academic papers.
