On November 27, KEPCO E&C signed an MOU with the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities (KEAD) to promote hiring the disabled in the energy technology industry.

Officials from both companies, including Ham Gi-hwang, the Director of Management & Administration Division at KEPCO E&C and Nam Yong-hyeon, the Director of Employment Promotion at KEAD, pledged to build the close cooperation system to take the lead in realizing social values beyond just fulfilling the obligation to hire the disabled as the public institutions.

Through this agreement, the two organizations plan to expand the employment of the disabled by developing jobs reflecting KEPCO E&C’s characteristics and introducing customized training courses. They will also create a disability-friendly environment by expanding support services for workers with disabilities and strengthening education to improve awareness of the disabled in the workplace. In particular, the efforts of both organizations to spread socially equitable jobs such as the “Seomseomoksu” nail care business to create jobs for disabled women with career discontinuity will continue.

In August, KEPCO E&C and the KEAD conducted comprehensive consulting on the employment of the disabled as part of the Measures to Promote Employment by Public Institutions by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The company has been actively carrying out various measures, such as easing applicant’s eligibility and special employment for the disabled against the disabled, to lower the entry barrier against the disabled in the energy technology sector.

“We expect that the signing of this MOU will be the substantive opportunity for the close cooperation between the two organizations to promote the employment of the disabled in the energy technology sector. KEPCO E&C plans to become a public institution as a partner to the disabled by leading the development of customized jobs and the creation of quality jobs for the disabled,” Ham Gi-hwang, the Director of Management and Administration Division at KEPCO E&C said.
