On October 21, KEPCO E&C signed the revised contract with International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).

KEPCO E&C is executing the Agreement for Cable Engineering Service with the total contract amount of EUR 18.3 million (about KRW 28.0 billion) with the ITER in May 2012 and had executed its cable design and technical support services for a 500MWt nuclear fusion test reactor being constructed in southern France.

The revision extends the contract period and increases the contract amount for the existing cable engineering support service. It is significant that it became the first ITER project, the period of which exceeded ten years, and that it was the result of the ITER’s recognition of KEPCO E&C project execution capability.

KEPCO E&C plans to secure technologies in nuclear fusion reactors for demonstration and commercial applications and support the government’s policies for collaborative cooperation with SMEs and energy conversion by continuing to participate in engineering services, equipment supply, and trial runs for ITER projects.
