KEPCO E&C on June 10 signed the Cooperation Agreement for Promotion of Floating Offshore Wind Power Industry” with 19 enterprises and institutions specializing in offshore wind farm business in Korea and other countries. The signing ceremony was held at Ulsan City Hall. It was attended by officials from signing parties, such as KEPCO E&C Executive Director Byeon Hwa-woon, Ulsan Mayor Song Cheol-ho, University of Ulsan President Oh Yeon-cheon, KOGAS CEO Yang Su-young, EWP CEO Park Il-jun, and representatives from private investment companies. Beginning with the 5MW offshore wind power generation system to be installed off the coast of Ulsan, Ulsan Metropolitan City plans to construct floating offshore wind farms with a total capacity of about 1.4GW in the East Sea gas well region with private investment companies, such as GIG, KFWind, CoensHexicon, CIP, SKE&S, and Equinor, by 2025. “Based on KEPCO E&C’s experiences in designing nuclear and thermal power plants and the currently ongoing Jeju Hanlim Offshore Wind Farm project, we will actively provide R&D and technical support for the development of the floating offshore wind power industry that Ulsan Metropolitan City is aggressively promoting,” promised KEPCO E&C Executive Director Byeon Hwa-woon. |
