KEPCO E&C acquired on March 18 the quality certificate through the QMS certification audit conducted by the Romanian National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control (CNCAN).

Although the QMS audit was to be held at the site, it was substituted by a two-day video conference on March 12 and 13 due to the travel restriction following COVID 19. It examined KEPCO E&C’s quality management system and business quality assurance system, engineer qualification certification program, and nuclear power design management procedure.

KEPCO E&C and KHNP jointly participated in and won the bidding for the feasibility assessment service for the construction of radioactive waste storage in Romania and acquired the QMS certification, a mandatory regulatory requirement for participation in the Romanian projects.

This acquisition of the quality certificate from an overseas nuclear regulatory agency is yet another confirmation of the excellence of KEPCO E&C's quality management and business quality assurance programs.

Based on the successful execution of the Romanian service project, KEPCO E&C plans to make full efforts to win orders for follow-up projects related to facility improvement of Cernavoda Nuclear Plant #1&2, such as the radioactive waste storage unit design and tritium removal facility projects.
