The completion ceremony of the simulator for Shin Kori Unit 1, of which project has been executed by KEPCO E&C, the primary contractor, was held at the Kori Nuclear Power Site on February 8.

More than 80 executives and staff involved in the project attended the event including Jun Hwee-Soo, executive vice-president of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP); Chung Choon-Hoon, head of KEPCO E&C’s O&M Business Group; and Noh Ki-Kyung, site vice-president of the Kori Nuclear Power Site.

KEPCO E&C received an appreciation plaque for its contribution to the successful completion of the simulator from the site vice-president of the Kori Nuclear Power Site.

The simulator has been developed to simulate identical thermo-hydraulic performance with the plant’s various items of equipment including reactor and steam generator.  And, the simulator has been linked to various gauges and instruments on the main control panel so that it provides the operators of the simulator with the same effect as actual operation of the plant.

Also, the simulator will be used in the operational training and license tests of plant operator to enable them to develop their ability to deal with accidents and safely operate the plant in abnormal situations.

KEPCO E&C, as a general engineering design company, will step up its effort to win projects to supply additional simulators, and endeavor to ensure the safe operation of nuclear power plants.
