A ceremony was held to commemorate the initial power receiving at the Top Osan Combined Heat & Power Plant project site in Gyeonggi Province, Korea on May 8. The event brought together more than sixty people, including Jae-won Kim, Executive Senior Vice President of KEPCO E&C, the president of DS Power, and heads and officials in charge of the project.

Initial power receiving is the process by which power is received from offsite power system for the first time in order to secure the power needed for test operation within the power plant, and to prepare for power transmission and receiving after synchronization. As such, it constitutes the first step toward conducting an independent test operation.

KEPCO E&C is responsible for the design work for the construction project, the purchase of materials and equipment, and commissioning of the project. With the initial power receiving now completed, KEPCO E&C has secured its track record in initial power receiving for a power plant construction project in Korea, and started the commissioning in earnest.

As for the Top Osan Combined Heat & Power Plant, the gas turbine will be ignited in September 2015, and synchronization will be conducted in December 2015, prior to the completion of power facilities with an output of 436 MW and  a heat supply of 280 Gcal/h in March 2016.
