Order Received for the Design Technology and Supervision Service of the Construction of Coal-Handling Facilities at Gumho’s Nakpo Coal Pier

On Sep. 22, 2009, KOPEC received an order from Kumho Petrochemical Co., Ltd. for the design technology and supervision service for the construction of coal-handling facilities at Nakpo Coal Pier.

Kumho Petrochemical Co., Ltd. has acquired the business rights from Yeosu Regional Maritime Affairs & Port Office in a bidding held for the selection of the contractor for the operation of Nakpo Coal Pier, and KOPEC will provide the design and supervision service for the facilities for the loading/unloading and the storing/shipping of coal, and other related facilities. The recent contract is limited to the facilities installed in the lot of the 1st phase, and the contract for the 2nd expanded project can be made only by adding the amount of the service.

The project concerns the design and supervision service for the construction of new coal loading/ unloading facilities, coal storage facilities, a transportation conveyor, coal shipping facilities and other accompanying facilities. A total of 5 companies including KOPEC and Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd participated in the bid, but KOPEC’s considerable experience in the design of coal-fired thermoelectric power plants and its superior technological power played a decisive role in winning the order for the project.

In particular, KOPEC is implementing the design service for Kumho’s TDF Cogeneration Plant for Kumho Petrochemical Co., Ltd., so the project is all the more significant in that the signing of another contract for the same private client sets a good example for the creation of customer values and the expansion of business.
