KEPCO E&C donated a rainfall recycling system to an elementary school in Cote D'lvoire with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Cote d'Ivoire on January 20.
The system was installed at an elementary school in the city of Abidjan to filter rainfall and underground water for use as residential water in areas lacking water services.
KEPCO E&C expects that the system will make a significant contribution to improve the poor educational and sanitary environment for local children.
"We deeply thank KEPCO E&C for it's contribution to our local communities and expect this will be an opportunity to further the close partnership between Cote d'Ivoire and Korea," Mr. Antonin Benjamin BIEKE representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cote d'Ivoire declared at the construction completion ceremony.
"We plan to continue with various programs to further the cooperation and the contribution of Korean companies to the local community. We wish for a healthy school life for the children of Cote d'Ivoire," said Surh Sung-yol, ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire.
Since its initial entry into relations with the African region with a power plant EPC project in Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire in 2011, KEPCO E&C has been carrying out various programs such as repairing roads around the power plant, hosting a joint pep rally in support of the national team during the World Cup, and sponsoring the Taekwondo Championship to integrate with local communities and support their wellbeing.
