Support for Enhancing Nuclear Power Plant Equipment Supplier’s Quality

KEPCO E&C held a seminar on Measures for Strengthening the Quality Assurance Capability of Nuclear Power System Equipment Suppliers on January 6.
The seminar was focused on improving the supplier’s understanding of the quality assurance program for nuclear power plant equipment and to listen and exchange views on related problems and difficulties.
The seminar was organized into 1) categories of equipment that are subject to the quality assurance program; 2) methods of carrying out the program; and 3) applicable technologies. The seminar included lectures by technical staff from the Nuclear Safety Engineering Center of KEPCO E&C.
More than fifty technical staff took part in the seminar from suppliers and quality verification testing agencies, such as Century, Kwangmyung Electric, SGS Korea and Koneq, following the seminar the participants had Q&A sessions. Sharing the problems and difficulties that can occur during the performance of the quality assurance program. the Q&A sessions were particularly helpful in terms of gaining insights into widely varying experiences of other suppliers.
KEPCO E&C expects this seminar to be a positive factor in assuring the quality of important equipment to ensure nuclear power plant and public safety in the future.
