KEPCO E&C Signs Contract for Integrated Engineering Services for the Shin-Honam and Shin-Ilsan Combined-Cycle Power Plant Projects

On July 29, KEPCO E&C (President & CEO Tae-Kyun Kim) signed a KRW 40.2 billion contract with Korea East-West Power (EWP) for “Integrated Engineering Services for the Shin-Honam and Shin-Ilsan Combined-Cycle Power Plant Projects,” under a joint-execution arrangement with Kunhwa Engineering & Consulting.
Under this contract, KEPCO E&C will provide A/E services for the construction of a 500MW (500 MW × 1 unit) combined-cycle power plant located at the Shin-Honam Construction Headquarters in Wolrae-dong within the Yeosu National Industrial Complex, and a 900MW (450MW × 2 units) combined-cycle power plant at the existing Ilsan Power Complex in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province. The detailed scope of work includes pre-construction design, optimal design review, basic and detailed designs that incorporate safety regulations and requirements, procurement support, and assistance with project execution and regulatory approvals.
KEPCO E&C, which has designed the majority of Korea’s nuclear and thermal power plants and accumulated world-class engineering expertise, is actively pursuing LNG combined-cycle, renewable-energy, and eco-friendly projects to support carbon neutrality and diversification of energy mix.
Through this contract, KEPCO E&C will fulfill its role as an engineering design firm, contributing to stable electricity and district heating supply in both the Honam and Seoul metropolitan areas. The company will leverage its advanced engineering capabilities to enhance plant performance while ensuring reliability.
