KEPCO E&C (President & CEO Tae-Kyun Kim) signed an MOU on June 18 with HanmiGlobal at HanmiGlobal’s headquarters to strengthen collaboration in nuclear power projects. Through this MOU, the two companies plans to enhance project management capabilities in nuclear design and leverage this to create new business opportunities. 

In particular, the partners agreed to establish a data-driven decision-making system by introducing advanced technologies such as digital twin, artificial intelligence (AI), and building information modeling (BIM), thereby upgrading their project-management framework for nuclear power plant design and related fields. The two companies will also work together to explore new business opportunities in nuclear back-end management⎯including future projects such as high-level radioactive waste disposal facilities⎯and to pursue owner’s engineering services in the global market.

KEPCO E&C, as the design authority for the Korean-standard nuclear power plants, possesses core technologies in nuclear power plant design, engineering, and safety analysis, and more. HanmiGlobal is a specialist in project management, with construction project management (PM/CM) as its core business. The company has brought advanced management methods to Korea through a strategic partnership with U.S.-based Parsons Corporation.

Meanwhile, KEPCO E&C has been designated to carry out the A/E and NSSS designs for the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic, following the contract signed on June 4, and is currently making thorough preparations for swift commencement of the project.
